Turning Beauty Inside Out
"The shift away from ingredients deemed as toxic or harmful has become a mainstream movement, first through the rise of natural and organic beauty, then more specifically to "healthy" and "clean" beauty... The clean beauty movement has seen the rise of new labels that put health at the forefront of their brand proposition. An example is Orveda, founded by ex-CEO of Lancôme and L'Oréal, Sue Nabi. Orveda's philosophy is to "work with the skin, not against it.
'We only use health-related ingredients, track-record and dermatologically-approved actives, like hyaluronic acid, and of course, cleaner, safer formulations,' says Nabi. 'We consciously use no parabens, no phenoxyethanol, no artificial colourants, no alcohol and non-mineral oils. Safety and cleanliness is clearly the new luxury'."
